In days gone by, Drummond was known as a major cattle shipper. Today, it is known as the small town with two high school state football championships.
Drummond, Montana is located off I-90, 45 minutes east of Missoula. With a population just over 300, the Drummond Trojans captured a state championship football title in 2003. Chase Reynolds, running back, was a member of that team who was a record setting player who went on to play for the University of Montana Grizzlies football team and drafted to the NFL. In 2016 Chase Reynolds retired from football.
In 2014, Drummond High School football team co-oped with nearby Philipsburg Prospector high school football team coming together as the Granite Titans. This was a big deal in the county as Drummond and Philipsburg we cross-town rivals. They were able to put aside their rivalry to claim another state championship football title. On fall Friday nights, as you pass Drummond on I-90, you will see the lights of the field and an always exciting game in full swing.
On July 8, 2018, plan to stop at Drummond for the 75th annual PRCA Rodeo.
