Where to Stay in Big Sky – Canyon Area
Lodging in the Canyon Area is mainly private home rentals. Some are along the Gallatin River, while some are tucked away in the nearby mountains. Either way, everything is easy to get to. In the summer, a Canyon stay is about 40 minutes to the entrance of Yellowstone National Park, the Gallatin River for blue-ribbon fishing is minutes away, Big Sky Meadow Village and Town Center are approximately 15 minutes away and Big Sky Mountain Village is 25 minutes away, of course, depending on the location of the home rental. The Canyon area is where you will find river rafting, fly fishing, horseback riding, hiking, and ATV rentals.
NOTE – The Canyon Area of Big Sky actually has a “Gallatin Gateway” address. There is also a Gallatin Gateway (town) which is located 20 minutes north and is on the other side of the Gallatin Canyon. Confusing, I know… It is more important in the winter as you don’t want to drive the Canyon every day to get to Big Sky Resort.
