Boating on Hebgen Lake
Hebgen Lake is located in southwest Montana 1-hour south of Big Sky and 20 minutes from West Yellowstone. Known for its 19″ Rainbow and Brown Trout” you can expect excellent fishing in these cold calm waters.
In addition to fishing, Hebgen is a popular boating destination. The lake is, more often than not, clam water. That said, it is Montana and it is good to be prepared for any weather!
You will find many hiking and equine trails to choose from.
Campgrounds are Cherry Point and Rainbow Point. Rainbow Point is the larger of the two with 80 campsites. Each campsite will accommodate a full-size camper and one to two vehicles.
The Happy Hour Bar & Grill on Hebgen Lake puts on a full Christmas Dinner during the summer. As the story goes, for several years there was a snow storm that blew in, snowed like a son-of-a-gun and it looked just like Christmas so they started celebrating the snow with a Christmas dinner. No matter the reason, it is always fun at the Happy Hour Bar for Christmas in the middle of summer.
