Things to Do in Whitefish, Montana

We call it “the happy place” because we see so many people overjoyed with excitement and a sense of accomplishment here. We also call it “an obstacle course in the trees” because there are five courses of various ability levels, each featuring different elements for getting from tree to tree. Traverse from tree to tree by crossing cable bridges, climbing rope ladders, swinging on a trapeze and more. The park is a great activity for families, friends and team building.

Soar high above ski slopes, over ravines and through the trees on Montana’s longest zip line tour. Experience more than a mile of flying on seven separate lines stretching as long as 1,900 ft. across and up to 300 ft. above the forest floor. If the exhilaration doesn’t take your breath away, the views will. Tours are led by two guides who ensure that each flyer is soundly secured for each flight and who facilitate fun from start to finish.

Our 7-Zip Tour is highly recommended. It involves a moderate amount of hiking and is about 2.5 hours long.

The 5-Zip Tour includes zip lines 1, 2, 3, 6 and 7. This tour involves less hiking than the 7-Zip Tour and lasts 2 hours.

It includes a 7-Zip Tour, round-trip Scenic Lift ticket, and three alpine slide rides. The package is based on availability and only valid for one day. Aspiring mountain bikers ages 2 to 6 will love practicing their balance and riding skills on pedal-less bikes through the new Strider Bike Park located next to the Base Lode patio. Strider Balance Bikes break down the basics of learning how to ride into a safe and natural progression. With feet safely on the ground, a rider is easily able to maneuver and ride the lightweight bike around the track with berms and rollers. Good to know – Maximum height is 44 lbs. Cost includes bike and helmet rental. Parent or guardian supervision is required.

Ranked #1 among Whitefish attractions, Scenic Lift Rides are a must-do in the summer. Choose from an enclosed gondola or an open chairlift, then sit back and enjoy the mountain scenery as well as views of Whitefish Lake, the Flathead Valley and Glacier National Park on the ride to the summit. Once at the summit, enjoy 360-degree views before returning down the mountain, or spend some time at the Summit House in the full cafeteria-style restaurant and bar or in the Summit Nature Center.

Enjoy lunch at the Summit House, Montana’s only mountaintop restaurant. Visit the Summit Nature Center staffed by US Forest Service rangers and stop in at Summit Gifts for a souvenir. Several hiking and mountain biking trails can be accessed from the summit. Last ride down the Scenic Lift is at 5:30PM.

Enjoy 23 lift-accessed trails serviced by two chairlifts in the Whitefish Bike Park. The Bike Park is open daily, weather permitting, from 10am—5:30pm June 17 through September 4, 2017. Beginning September 8, the Bike Park is open Friday through Sunday through September 24, 2017.
