Manhattan Montana is one of those special small towns that are dotted across the state. Just 11 miles west of Belgrade, it is an agricultural community with a backdrop of the Horseshoe Mountains and the Spanish Peaks. Manhattan’s got roots in growing barley (for beer, of course.) and the name comes from a group of investors from New York City who operated the Manhattan Malting Company. This charming small town hosts a potato festival each year, is home to the Manhattan Tigers high school team, the best chiropractors in Montana, an event venue, and has access to the east Gallatin River for canoes and kayaks. Manhattan has been known for years as the must-stop at Sir Scott’s Oasis Steakhouse. Well, it is a new era as the Oasis has closed and I can say they will be missed.
