Flint Creek Range, Montana
The Flint Creek Range is located east of Philipsburg and west of Deer Lodge and contains dozens of trout-filled alpine lakes. Most are accessible by ATV, hiking, and horseback.
Albicaulis Lake
Located in the North Fork Racetrack Creek drainage which contains rainbow and cuttbow trout. Accessible via 4×4 off Interstate I-90 via Racetrack, east of Deer Lodge.
Alpine Lake
Located in the North Fork Racetrack Creek drainage and contains rainbow trout. Accessible via 4×4 via Racetrack east of Deer Lodge off I-90.
Altoona Lakes #1, #2, #3,
Located in the Royal Gold Creek drainage (Boulder Creek) southeast of Maxville off MT Highway 1 and contains Yellowstone cutthroat trout. Accessible via 4×4.
Bielenberg Lake
Located in the Little Gold Creek drainage (Boulder Creek) southeast of Maxville off MT Highway 1 ad contains Yellowstone cutthroat trout. Accessible via 4×4.
Big Pozega Lake
Located in the Raktrack Creek drainage (access via Racetrack east of Deer Lodge off I-90). Accessible via 4×4.
Boulder Lakes, Upper and Lower
Located in the Boulder Creek drainage southeast of Maxville off MT Highway 1 and contains cutthroat trout. Accessible via hiking or horseback.
Copper Creek Lakes
Located in the Copper Creek drainage east of Philipsburg and contain brook and cutthroat trout. Accessible via hiking or horseback.
Crystal Lake
Located in the Copper Creek drainage east of Pilipsburg and contains brook trout. Accessible via ATV, foot, or horseback. The final decent to the lake is accessible via hiking.
Dead Lake
Located in the North Fork Rock Creek drainage and is accessed via Montana Highway 272 west of Deer Lodge to Rock Creek Road to the trailhead. Contains Yellowstone cutthroat trout. Accessible via hiking or horseback.
Dolus #4 Lake
Located in the North Fork Rock Creek drainage via MT Highway 272 west from Deer Lodge to Rock Creek Road to trailhead. It contains Yellowstone cutthroat trout. Accessible via hiking or horseback.
Elbow Lake
Located in the South Fork Rock Creek drainage via MT Highway 272 west from Deer Lodge to Rock Creek Road to trailhead. The Lake contains rainbow trout. Accessible via hiking or horseback.
Elliot Lakes, Upper and Lower
Located in the Dempsey Creek drainage which is east of I-90 between Racktrack and Deer Lodge. These lakes contain estslope cutthroat trout. Accessible to Lower Elliot via 4×4, Upper Elliot via hiking or horseback.
Goat Mountain Lakes #1 and #2
Located in the Rock Creek drainage via MT Highway 272 west from Deer Lodge to Rock Creek Road to trailhead. Both contain Yellowstone cutthroat trout. Accessible via hiking or horseback.
Little Gold Creek Lake
Located in the Gold Creek drainage via Boulder Creek Road southeast of Maxville on MT Highway 1. This lake contains cuttbows. Accessible via hiking or horseback.
Martin Lake
Located in the Tin Cup Joe drainage west of Deer Lodge and contains rainbow trout. Accessible via hiking or horseback.
Meadow Lakes #1, #4, #5 South
Located in the Racetrack Creek drainage accessed west of Racetrack on I-90 east of Deer Lodge. These lakes contain rainbow and cutthroat trout. Accessible via hiking or horseback.
Powell Lake
Located in the Powell Creek drainage southwest of Deer Lodge and contains brown trout. Accessible via hiking or horseback.
Sidney Lake
Located in the Copper Creek drainage east of Philipsburg and contains rainbow trout. Accessible via hiking or horseback.
